Landing Clients On Discord
0-60k In 12 Months
I went from delivering bagels to supermarkets for minimum wage
To making $60,000+ while traveling the world in the span of 12 months.
Not bad right?
In this newsletter, I am going to be laying out the playbook that I used to easily land high-paying gigs on Discord.
Whether you’re a freelancer, an agency owner, a solopreneur or someone just looking for online work, you can copy and paste this process and see results.
Here’s the 7-step process:
Step 1:
Learn a valuable skill.
It’s no secret that you need be able to provide value to someone in order to make money.
And you probably already possess the necessary skills required to earn money online.
However, if you don’t, it really doesn’t take more than a few YouTube videos and a bit of practice to be better than 99% of people on the internet.
Here’s a list of in-demand skills that you can start learning on YouTube TODAY:
Sales
Coding
Marketing
Copywriting
Ghostwriting
Video Editing
Programming
Sound Design
Music Production
Thumbnail Design
Graphic Design
Web Development
Discord Moderation
Community Management
The list goes on and on… but choose ONE to start with and nail that.
You only need to be good at one thing to start earning online, so choose something that piques your interest and practice, practice, practice.
Once you feel ready, it’s time to find some work.
Step 2:
Download Discord, and set up your profile.
Here’s a basic guide to optimizing your profile:
Name: Real name, or professional nickname
PFP: Clear, friendly, and professional headshot
Bio: What you do, what you’ve done and link to Twitter or landing page.
Ensure both your Discord AND Twitter profiles are optimized for the best results.
We’re using Twitter as our pseudo landing page, so this is important.
Make sure you’re posting regular content that helps you establish authority in your niche of choice.
Step 3:
There are thousands of Discord servers you could find work in, but the key is to find ones that are relevant to the niche you’re in.
For me, I was interested in working with startups in Web3.
Here are the Discord groups I’ve found work through:
Furlough: https://discord.gg/furlough
Roo Troop: https://discord.gg/rootroop
NFT Academy: https://discord.gg/jmYvTNM7
Truth Collective: https://discord.gg/truthcollective
And here’s a link to find more servers:
Choose some servers to join, immerse yourself in the communities, and build out your network.
Step 4:
I’m going to run you through how I’d approach finding work on Furlough, as this is a fool-proof approach and can be applied to any server.
Furlough is a server full of agency owners and entrepreneurs that are ready to take their businesses to the next level.
Check out #introduce-yourself or #showcase-startup, or go to one of the channels in the “pillars” section and take a look at what they’re posting.

Find people working on things that interest you, initiate conversations with them, and start to form genuine connections.
This is where you can start adding free value:
Give some positive feedback.
Propose a solution to a problem they’re facing.
Do something for them without them asking.
The main goal here is to provide as much value as you can, without expecting anything in return.
Step 5:
It’s time to take it to the DM’s.
This is the most crucial part and is where a lot of people go wrong.
You have to be able to find a balance between being casual and friendly, but professional and serious.
Here’s how you do it:
Once you’ve built rapport with someone, add them as a friend.
When they accept, initiate a conversation with them in their DM’s.
Here is a template that you could use for your first message:
“Hey [Insert Name]
What you guys are doing over at [insert company] is super interesting, i’d love to hear more about it.
How’s your journey going so far?”
From there, you can expect them to reveal a bit more about what they’re doing.
And your job is to keep showing interest.
Humans love being heard.
But don’t let the conversation drag on for too long.
You want to be the one to end the conversation.
Remember, the end goal is to get them into a call with you.
Here’s an example:
“This all sounds great! I’d be keen to chat about this more but I need to jump into a few meetings.
Are you free to jump into a call sometime this week?”
Note:
They’ll most likely click through to your Twitter at this stage. Make sure its optimised and you’re posting relevant, valuable content.
Step 6:
If they say yes, setup a time with them.
Once you’re in the call, keep it casual, and ask them a lot of questions.
Eventually, you’ll have to propose your services to them.
Here are a few key things to remember when doing this:
1. They don’t owe you anything.
Don’t be offended if they don’t want your services. You shouldn’t expect them to.
2. Sell them the destination, not the vehicle
I will be your Twitter ghostwriter.
I will get you 500 followers, and 5 inbound leads on Twitter in 30 days.
3. Our goal is to make it a NO BRAINER for them.
Throw in guarantees such as:
100% money back
Partial guarantee (don’t recommend)
Work with you until we hit the goal for no extra cost.
But whatever it is, make the person feel like they’d be stupid to say no.
This process applies whether you’re offering your services for free, or you’re being paid.
If you have no testimonials, I’d recommend working for free for your first client.
It takes the pressure off both you and the client and allows you to gain the required experience.
Get that first testimonial then you can start charging clients.
Step 7:
Have you ever heard the saying underpromise, and overdeliver?
Well, that applies here too.
Once you secure your first client, you need to work like a madman to deliver the best results possible.
You’re only as good as your social proof, so make sure you’re learning, improving, and executing to deliver the best service possible.
YouTube, Twitter, and Discord are full of incredibly valuable and free content, take advantage of them if you ever feel stuck.
Continue to stack your skillset and gain experience.
Build out your network and get your name out there.
Rinse and repeat this process.
And you’ll be printing money online in no time.
